Ribandar is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit the island of Chorao. It is also close and well connected to the capital city of Panjim (5 Kms) and Old Goa (7 kms).

From the Ribandar jetty, ferry service to the Island of Chorao is available every 15mins to cross the river Mandovi. a comfortable and scenic 25 minutes cruise. the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is a very small sanctuary on this island and since it is off season, the forest officials arrive at a leisurely pace. meanwhile, a local Bird guide, Uday mandrekar offers a Canoe cruise which is through some good Mangroves. some Photos of Chorao
